Two Separate Malibu Car Accidents End in Three Deaths
Pedestrian Emily Rose Shane of Malibu, 13, was struck and killed by a car as she crossed Pacfic Coast Highway near Point Dume around 5 p.m. Saturday.
The accident caused authorities to close some lanes of PCH for around 24 hours as they investigated the accident. Authorities identified the driver of the car as 25-year-old Sina Khankhanian of Winnetka, whom they arrested on suspicion of murder because they believe he intentionally caused the crash.
In a separate accident, David Corona of Oxnard, 19, told authorities he fell asleep at the wheel and lost control of his car, which collided with another vehicle and killed its driver on Friday.
Corona was driving west on PCH in Malibu when he fell asleep and crossed the central divider, hitting a vehicle driven by a 43-year-old Santa Monica motorist. Police have not charged Corona, as the accident is still under investigation.
